What I am about to say might sound confusing. But it is not meant to be. First, this book is about me. But second, this book is not about me. In the pages that follow, I will share thirteen times from my life when the Lord spoken directly to me, non-audibly, in my heart. For the first three, I did not know exactly what was happening. For the last ten occasions plus one, I was fully aware of what was happening. So in that sense, this book is about me. It will share fourteen personal experiences from my life.

But this book is not really about me because the purpose is to show how anyone can have the same kind of close personal relationship with the Lord that I have had. There are certain things that anyone can do to bring himself or herself into the Lord's presence. Hopefully by the time that the reader has gotten to the end of the final chapter, some fresh ideas will come to mind about how to make that relationship happen.

There is one note, however, to be made with respect to the organization of this book before concluding this introduction. Something that the reader might find useful is boxes throughout that show the different passages that are being referenced at the times and in the places where they are being referenced. That way, he or she will not have to jump all over the place or get into or out of the scriptures to locate a particular reference. Hopefully that inclusion will help the reader in trying to understand the various events and to also quickly put them into their right context.

Finally, I have wanted to write this book for a long time. So maybe, this will be my final book. But as always, my desire has been to bring praise, honor, and glory to the Lord. He is worthy because of all that He has done and does for those who have come to Him.
