But since she’s digging for answers trying to explain exactly how her grandmother died, she needs his help. It won’t be easy. Lando has never forgiven her for leaving him. Tensions flair between the two as a killer grips the town in fear. Is it kill or be killed? Who will the killer target next? And when will it all end?

this bookbwoukd have been more enjoyable if the voices were depicted by male and female. easier to follow, as well

AI ruined the book.

Pros: Good story line. Kept me entrigued. Was able to follow even though AI changed words.
Cons: AI completely took emotion out of the story. Voice very robotic. Changed words throughout story but you can tell which word it should've been instead. In my humble opinion AI can be helpful in some circumstances but reading audible books is not one of them.

Very Elementary Book

I was disappointed with this book. The characters are very elementary. Gemma and Lando lack maturity in their relationship and both have terrible tendencies which don’t lend themselves to wanting to root for them.

The mystery was good, and I was engaged in wanting to know how it was going to be solved. Lando was a total ass when it came to listening to anyone else. This made me wonder why in the heck he was even elected sheriff. He just wasn’t likable at all.

The biggest disappointment came at the end. The author didn’t give readers a decent chance to solve this mystery as they chose a terrible trope. They introduced a character late in the story that no one had any interaction with, and the reader had no knowledge of. There wasn’t any interaction even after the introduction and then the book just sort of wrapped up quickly. Lando did his sheriff thing in a skipped sequence and then the book was done.

I don’t think I will continue the series.
