In 1991, Glenn Sabin was a 28-year-old newlywed diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) - a disease doctors called "uniformly fatal". Treatments could buy him some time and eventually ease his discomfort, but there was no conventional cure. Glenn's prognosis was clear: He was going to die.

Although Glenn and his wife, Linda, continued to consult with doctors, cancer specialists, and top oncologists, Glenn made a monumental decision: He would become his own health advocate. While he continued to "watch and wait", Glenn would figure out how to stay alive.

No one could predict when a large-scale clinical trial would discover a cure for CLL, so Glenn began his own medically monitored and carefully researched lifestyle changes. He would conduct his own single-patient clinical trial.

He would become an "n of one".

Today, Glenn is not only alive, but a 2012 biopsy at Harvard confirmed that his bone marrow contains no leukemic cells. His case is now part of the medical literature.

Hope For Overcoming My CLL

I read the entire book in one evening, and had it been longer, I would have gone through the night. Couldn’t pause even for food. Needed this hope, needed the tears, needed the excitement, needed the knowledge, the lists of doctors, the institutes, the remedies, the journey and the ups and downs of it all. I completely needed this read and this author. Thank you for helping ignite that sacred spark once again in my soul.

Essential Cancer book!

while I don't have CLL, this book was enlightening regarding being involved in one's own cancer treatment and lifestyle changes. I found several of his actions are in line with my own. consult doctors but don't be pushed in to a treatment protocol that does not align with your beliefs.

Inspiring

My oncologist told me nothing I do or don’t do will stop the progression of my new CLL diagnosis. I thought that was extremely irresponsible, and this book confirms it.

Integrative options work!

An interesting, informative, true to life reflection of how we should consider alternative medicine as part of our day-to-day lives, even if we don’t have cancer. I will buy the book as well to support his efforts.
