I liked our main character. He’s a likable dude but his personality is pretty mellow. He could be anyone, really. I wanted a touch more for him too, like some bad habits or a tendency to pick his teeth when nervous or such. Perhaps he grows some personality as the series progresses.
The ladies show potential. However, all of them are introduced as romantic interests first. In fact, the story seems to think their most important attribute is their curves. That aside, the ladies have skills and do the most to keep the characters and plot alive.
The story centers around a crash landing in a forest full of large carnivorous creatures that want to find out if humans taste like chicken. I adore such survival stories. So right away I was invested in the story. There’s enough here to carry my attention over into Book 2. 3.5/5 stars.
The Narration: Matthew Crow had a great voice for Easton Miller, our hero. He sounded a little naive and yet dedicated, just as I envisioned him in the story. I also liked Crow’s female character voices which sounded feminine without sounding like cartoons (a difficulty some male narrators struggle with). Crow did stumble a little over the alien names once or twice. The pacing was spot on and there were no tech issues with the recording. 4.5/5 stars.

What the humans are .... greedy assholes who would willing destroy another planet for their own needs is also pretty accurate.
Loved the human/alien (hybrid) element to the story. Being torn between your two parts.
White never fails to deliver a great story.
Matthew Crow did a great job narrating.
