Make a connection with these characters as they struggle to find the courage they never knew they had and the future they thought they'd never see. A powerful and emotional true story of the men and women that overcame all the odds only to face the greatest dangers mankind has ever faced before.

On the shores of the English Channel, only days before D-Day, they stand in the crossroads of history preparing to take on Hitler and the Nazis.

Lives are changed, friends become brothers, hearts are broken, and promises are made. Promises to never say goodbye.

This book is so so amazing! I grew up across the street from Rose growing up. She was like my family. I had no idea most of the things that happened in the book. I laughed. I cried. I heard it read in her wonderful voice.

I could not stop listening. What a fantastic true life story of people from the greatest generation.

I loved this from the beginning to the end. The story was beautiful. There were parts that I laughed at, and a few times I cried. The characters are loving people that I really connected to. The author has certainly done his research and made it all so interesting and compelling. Especially counting down to D-day. I learned a lot and was sad when I finished it. This is one I could listen to again. Which is rare for me. I liked the voice of the reader and thought she did a good job with the English and Brooklyn accents. Now that's a wide span of voices. In one word, delightful. I am looking forward to the authors next book.

This book was not very interesting for me as the narrator selected for this book was lacking and while the story might have been interesting I was unable to complete it due to the fact that the narrator's style was just plain not very compelling!
