Excellent first book in a new K-9 mystery series

Mike and King both survived active service. When Mike applies for a deputy position, he finds he's into more than he expected. With King at his side, he deals with a wily Sheriff, a corporal with attitude, and the mystery of who caused a fatal bombing. Well read by Lisa Baarns.

Power struggles

This novel is full of power struggles, conflicting ideas, rank over staff, male vs female ideas, one event after another keeping this reader flipping pages to see who would be in the hot seat next, have feathers ruffled or who solves the problems. An absolutely intriguing read first page to last. I am eager to listen to the second audio to see how this major twist on the last page will be resolved. This author was recommended to me by a dear friend and I am pleased that I took the advice. I am hooked. Easy 5 stars in all categories. This novel is character driven and dear readers, you won't be able to decide which character should sit in the "time out" corner. P.S. The narrators do an excellent job.
