Adrienne Willis is 45 and has been divorced for three years, abandoned by her husband for a younger woman. The trials of raising her teenage children and caring for her sick father have worn her down, but at the request of a friend and in hopes of respite, she's gone to the coastal village of Rodanthe in North Carolina to tend the local inn for the weekend. With a major storm brewing, the time away doesn't look promising...until a guest named Paul Flanner arrives.
At 54, Paul is a successful surgeon, but in the past six months his life has unraveled. Estranged from his son and recently divorced, he's sold his practice and his home and journeyed to this isolated town in hopes of closing a painful chapter.
Adrienne and Paul come together as the storm brews over Rodanthe, but what begins between them over the weekend will resonate throughout the rest of their lives, intertwining past and future, love and loss.©2002 Nicholas Sparks, All Rights Reserved; (P)2002 Time Warner AudioBooks, a Division of the AOL Time Warner Book Group

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I'm not going to say much as I don't want to give away any spoilers. However, 'Nights in Rodanthe' was a sweet tale. Beautiful in its complexities, as well as in its simplicity. Mr. Sparks has a gift for telling truly relatable romance fiction that includes all ages. I appreciate how Mr. Sparks can craft a romantic story about people of all ages. Love does not end at 20 as some in Hollywood would have us believe with their quick, romantic comedy movies. As a professional screenwriter, I would be honored to work with Mr. Sparks on a romantic drama. I have seen all the books that have made it to film and have read every book, regardless if it made it to books and stayed there, or moved on to be a beautiful film.Mr. Sparks you have a gift for the romantic genre and I hope you continue this journey. If, you should ever need a hand, or simply want some fresh blood to write a romantic drama with, I would be delighted and honored to be a support. Though I am sure this note will not make it to you and I am positive your production company provides you with enough supports.
With care and respect,
Rachel Reaugh (from Victoria, BC - Canada)
