Dean Smith is the new sheriff of Deadwood. With the passing of the town’s former sheriff, the citizens are hopeful for a new beginning. With the prospect of more gold appearing in the local mines, the people desire a renewed period of peace and prosperity.

About this time comes a new group of migrants from Eastern Europe. The citizens welcome them to the town, but the migrants never really fit in. They just do their daily work in the mines, keep to themselves, and only seem to come out at night. At first everything seems normal, but then the strange occurrences begin.

People begin to find their farm animals dead in their fields. First it’s the cows, then the horses and oxen. All of them have what appear to be bite marks on their necks, and all are completely drained of blood. The citizens believe a new predator has moved into the area, but when the local young women start to disappear they turn to the sheriff for answers.

Dean has his hands full as he investigates the situation. He tells people it’s just a wild animal, but the more he learns the more he’s convinced it’s something else. Something evil has come to town, and it isn’t going to stop. With the help of a local saloon girl named Grace, Dean comes up with a plan to uncover the evil once and for all. But will they be strong enough to stop it? Or will it consume the whole town, both Dean and Grace included? Find out, in Nightwalker.
