Nikola Tesla pursued his ideas for wireless lighting and worldwide wireless electric power distribution in his high-voltage, high-frequency power experiments. Tesla explained the principles of the rotating magnetic field in an induction motor by demonstrating how to make a copper egg stand on end using a device he constructed known as the Egg of Columbus and introduced his new steam-powered oscillator AC generator.

Inside, you’ll hear about:

  • A promising intellect
  • Health complications
  • Inventive work
  • A troubled mind
  • Unusual experiences
  • Mental breakdown
  • Controversial viewpoints
  • A forgotten mind
  • From breakdown to brainstorm
  • Overshadowed by rivals
  • Death of a forgotten mind
  • And much more!

Based on Tesla's new ideas for electrical equipment, including a thermomagnetic motor idea, Alfred S. Brown and Charles F. Peck formed the Tesla Electric Company. Nikola Tesla developed an induction motor that ran on alternating current (AC), a power-system format that was rapidly expanding in Europe and the US because of its advantages in long-distance, high-voltage transmission.

This is one of those books where you put on a pot of coffee and try to freight train through the book as much as you can. If you are a fan of Nikola Tesla, you need to have this book.

Never mind the fact I've been a fan of Nikola Tesla for years, for someone who is researching Tesla's work for a science fiction novel, this was a wonderful find. It gave me all kinds of tidbits of information that I might not have found elsewhere. I'm very pleased with it and enjoying it very much.

Very good bio

Nikola Tesla was truly the best inventive mind of his time. I can see how Edison was envious of everything that Tesla did. I bought another book about Tesla for my grandson who specializes in Science. It's not that hard to follow this man's great mind!

nice

Although I am quite interested in the technical side of his story, I enjoyed the development of Tesla from an unknown to acclamation of his genius by the great inventors of his age, like the singer who is rejected by the record company, and then rockets to stardom, Tesla becomes the superstar in his own right. It is amazing how many ideas came out of this one man's mind, that was claimed by others as theirs.

Genius..the title says it all.
