Rumors, tales, and expectations for the world above are that they will find a desolate wasteland filled with mutated animals and bands of roving hoards of starving people. It's a death sentence.

This book is about the events, of course, but more so about the people and how they evolve to cope with life on the surface, one they have not seen since age seven. What they encounter, how they handle each crises, and their growth as they survive in a world unknown and unexpected. Clary's books always contain unexpected twists and turns, so the listener never knows where the story is going—and that is part of the fun.

Interesting twist on a survival story

This approach to a post-apocalyptic survival story was totally different than I expected. I enjoyed the book and have also read others in the "Years After" series.

I'm enjoying the story so far but.

I am not a fan of the narration. Kevin pierce or R.C Bray would have done an amazing job with this story. however, the story is interesting enough for me to continue listening 🎶

Unique distopian story

The story of a post apocalyptic world set in the Pacific Northwest kept my attention enough to keep listening to the end. The author put enough twists to keep it unpredictable while endearing the listener to the main characters. Though the narrator at times was a bit monotone, he got the job done with a reasonable performance that did not distract from the story.

Poor writing and horrible narration

This is by far the worst audiobook I have ever listened to. The characters are unbelievable, unlikeable, and one-dimensional. The non-existent plot is basically a series of "adventures". The narrator's voice is irritating and he speaks in a smug sing-song voice, like a guy in a bar after a couple of drinks, trying to convince others that he is a "cool" guy. After wasting an hour attempting to listen to this audiobook, I had a headache and I was just angry that Audible would actually sell this piece of garbage. Unfortunately, this was a sale book and is not eligible for return. This is the last book I will purchase by this author or with this reader...and the last "sale" audiobook I will purchase from Audible.

Can't get past the bad narration

I just can't get past the horrible narration. This poor guy needs to find a new career. Just totally ruined the story he is so monotone and stiff in his reading.
