It is 1793 in France, the year of the guillotine. Already, Louis XVI has been sentenced to the scaffold, and Terror reigns. The architects of the Revolution (Marat, Danton, and Robespierre) have set up the Convention, an embryo parliament, designed to stem social chaos. But ideals topple in the face of political necessity, alliances founder, and intrigue is a way of life.

In Ninety-Three, Victor Hugo's inspired last novel, that tumultuous year's events are woven into an epic masterpiece that brilliantly captures the moment that shaped the destiny not only of France but of all European monarchies.

What made the experience of listening to Ninety-Three the most enjoyable?

This is my first introduction to Victor Hugo. I had no idea what a brilliant author he was. The characters are really captivating, and the plot tense and exciting. I was listening to this book on my iPod while fishing with tears running down my face. It has been weeks since I finished this book, and I still think about it. I really like this book.

This is a brilliantly written novel

Great story ! I thing Victor Hugo showed the best method of writing fiction. Ayn Rand thought so , and was very thankful for him showing how to write a novel. Just read Ayn Rand's novels such as The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged . Atlas Shrugged is the greatest novel ever written!

How to write non-fiction.

both the listen and the text are not easy. hugo, and in a way, the narrator, has a way of circumlocuting and exhusting - but if you can ignor that, when you reach the end, you feel uplifted, learnd, moved.

very demanding, very rewarding
