The Brotherhood.
It’s all about how tough you are. How smart you are. Loyalty is a virtue around here in this secret society. And if you’re not tough enough, then you’ll be eliminated during Reaping. Obey your direct orders, do your job, respect your superiors, they say.
“Just hunt the damn monsters and get paid. Don’t question the superiors.” I was always told.
I wanted to live a quiet life away from the pressures of the supernatural world, so I ran. From my past, my best friend, from everything. But the daughter of the King doesn’t get the quiet life. I, Jenna Elms, do not get a single moment of peace. Dawson Kade, my ex-best friend, made sure of that when he took me back to the Brotherhood and arrested me.
It’s the “hey the end of the world is coming and you need to find the sword of Michael, the four horsemen are coming, find the the White Horse,” type of life for me. Am I tough enough for that? Am I made for that? I don’t think so.
My father often talks about wanting to go back to the days of Eden, when times were perfect.
Eden was a garden of plenty. A paradise for all who entered, something the world often strives to go back to, but there’s something inside me that says there’s no going back to that. Not anymore. Manipulation and control want the dam of this earth to rupture. I fear there's a crack in this dam, and mine and Dawson's problems are only just beginning.
This world is crashing and burning. There’s no return to Eden.
The FC, despite living on her own for 10 years in a desert, turns into a puddle of anxiety when she meets the love interest, just so he can save her time and again to show readers he’s a good guy.
The book is also riddled with misogyny and it relies on it heavily as a plot device to emphasize how good our main couple is compared to everyone else who is oober bad.
This book will be suitable for young minds just getting into this genre and are looking for the trends on TikTok tropes only: however if your experienced reading this genre in particular, I wouldn’t waste your time or money:
