A crippled economy changes Lola Jones' silver-spoon status to copper and threatens to rip her sheltered family from the upper echelons of society, dropping them into the rotten bowels of East St. Louis. The story line 🔥

I love the story and the plot twist 😮‍💨 but the narrator 🥴 not so much. The oldest son was a brat but I’ve never been in his shoes so I don’t understand the grief. He was old enough to understand the struggles tho. I love Mannish even tho he was an adulterer he was such a sweet soul. If him and Lola met in a different life I would enjoy their love story.
That blazay and his partner whew they was some rude boys that didn’t fck around.

Unfinished....

This story missed several opportunities to give the characters and the storyline much needed depth. It’s completely unfinished.The ending is a HUGE cliffhanger but I wasn’t bothered too much by it because I don’t think a sequel would be interesting enough for me to listen to.

Good story but I wanted closure!

Since there is no second book, I really didn't like the cliffhanger at the end.

This kept me on the edge of my seat. And identifying with a mother's love to do anything for her children
hit home!❤️ I work 3rd shift and finished in 3 days
