The end is coming, and it’s coming fast.

Visitors from beyond the stars arrive, bearing with them portents of the Earth’s destruction.

With his unique abilities, Kyle is offered an opportunity to secure his place in the world beyond. But will his skills prove enough, or will he be just another casualty of the apocalypse?

Join Kyle and C.H.A.D.D. as they explore the ruins of Earth, unravel the secrets behind its destruction, and fight to make their names known as they take to the stars.

Book 2 of an Apocalypse LitRPG about an underdog who must do whatever it takes to survive against impossible odds. This rational, Healer Class MC will rise from weak-to-strong together with his sort-of-insane AI companion.

Very good, but not as good as first, Whole book seemed to be a just setup for next. Solid performance but voicing of the Female Character was not good. Kept waiting to see if there was going to be moment to save things or MC to give a dam but it never came.
Overall, 3.5/5.

Setup Book for Next, Female Voicing Not Good

Author doesn't waste too much time getting into it. Good use of time skips between story points. Gets relevant LitRPG stas in without hyper fixating it away from the story. Keeps power system simpler... look at He Who Fights Monsters with the excessive Bronze, Silver, Gold, Diamond full descriptions, then uses them so infrequently and thepower is complex and then... if I lost you just in that, it's worse as a reader/listener.... which is why I'm glad James keeps it simple. We shall see if Kyle's power scaling gets out of control too fast in book 3, but I like the progression speed for now. Going from slightly considered mediocre to ASTYRAL TRYANT in a couple years or a finding out the secrets and peeling it back slowly. I know books 3 and 4 are already out there, so we shall hear it son enough.

Honestly, This series is fine and all, I like the MC, he stands by his morals, he hasn't become jaded or power hungry despite him having a perfect excuse to be so. The plot also really likes to just "Do the thing" and doesn't let growing issues linger for too long.

Despite this, or more accurately Do to this, by the end of this book I really didn't feel the urge to read the next one. I don't know....the MC's motivations and goals really aren't that interesting to me anymore by the end of this book.

The next installment in the series works off of what our main character developed in the first book. While I appreciate the progression in his power, I did feel as if there could’ve been a little bit more learning and grasping of concepts that underpin the magic system in this universe.

I also felt as if the constant life or death scenarios were in a way predictable since as the reader, there’s a pattern established that the main character will always survive, and this removes a degree of the excitement.

Hopefully, the next book deals more in the mystery of the universe, and the main characters learning more so than constant life or death fights.

Good, but could’ve been better

I enjoyed the first book more. The problems I had with the first book are still present, but this one seemed a bit “aimless.” Most of the fights, and the deaths in the fights, seemed pointless. Also, the descriptions of the fights, abilities and the system became even more confusing.

I am interested in the overall story enough to read the next one, but it won’t be released until August.

Quality dropped, but I’m still interested
