Fantastic Story

Off the Mark really hit the mark with me. Very interesting and engaging characters and a story that will have you cheering for the main characters. Author, Karen Nolan, can tell a story really well. The narrators did a fantastic job of bringing this story to life.

Fun story - okay narration

I love this book. I’ve read it a few times and was excited to see the audiobook on sale so I could grab and listen for my next reread. Overall this was a great production. The male narrator wasn’t my favorite. His primary voice for Rowan was okay (not the best accent, but not too cloying) but his voice for female characters was HORRENDOUS. Not only did he adopt a weird, breathy, nasally voice for all female characters (and honestly they mostly all sounded the same) that was awful to listen to and also made them all sound shallow and annoying, but he didn’t try AT ALL to match the tone and cadence of his narrator counterpart (Charlie would NEVER sound breathy and desperate the way he plays her so it totally throws off the tone of the story).

Lila Winters is a gem, and I honestly wished she had just narrated both parts of this book - it would have been way more bearable. Or I wish she (and the production team) had just told Wayne to stop with the ridiculous female voices and just read the whole thing in his male voice alone.

Overall, I enjoyed this listen, but just be prepared!
