Evan Ryder returns to uncover an international conspiracy against American democracy in a white-knuckle thriller by New York Times best-selling author Eric Van Lustbader.

Evan Ryder was once a field agent for a black-ops arm of the Department of Defense. Now she works for Parachute, a cutting-edge quantum-computing firm whose private espionage network exceeds any government spy agency. But her mission remains the same: Seek out and destroy Omega, a fanatical global cult intent on destroying democracy. The fight against Omega has already cost Evan dearly but she will not stop until she has torn out the conspiracy by its roots, no matter the risk.

In Omega Rules, the assassination of a Parachute agent in Vienna sets Evan on a dangerous, world-wide hunt for answers and on a collision course with forces so powerful they may be beyond her abilities to annihilate. Once again Lustbader delivers a prescient exploration of the political and ideological forces that are wreaking havoc on the stability of the Western world and its struggling democracies.

Eric Van Lustbader has been a favorite author of mine since I read Ninja in the 80's. After listening to the first 2 books of this series I was expectant for the 3rd book to be good. I had no idea it was going to be a book with a political push for one side or the other. Of the series so far I would say this is the most unlike Lustbader's normal writing style I have heard. The main character is sort of dumbed down it seems and very little in the first 10 chapters. Other characters feel like they have been neutered and turned to nothing more than background distractions. I am disappointed with the fact that he is obviously pushing a political narrative, that I get plenty of in the news, that I can not even finish this horribly slow dreg of a novel. Never have i seen his writing so bland and disjointed. Its like someone else wrote the book.

Not his best work

The story would have been better is the narrator did not have every foreign accent so nasally and too similar to each other. Also, many of the characters’ voices tended to be whiny, which made listening to this story tough.

The story is good but this narrator or the previous one fit the story.

The story would have been better if….
