On the Significance of Number-Dreams

In the essay "On the Significance of Number-Dreams", Carl Jung explains why numbers are not just artifacts of the conscious mind but hold a deeper significance. Through the study of the "number" dreams of his patients, he discovered that the smaller natural numbers are symbols in the same sense that the people and events of our dreams are symbols of behavioral situations and personified collective character traits. Number is tied to synchronicity and has an archetypal foundation, defined by Jung as an "archetype of order". Number also appears in the Mandala symbols of the self with their four-fold structure, or any multiple of four. Jung concludes that the unconscious uses numbers to create order.

Not my favorite.

Look, I love Jung but never really bought in to the significance of numbers in dreams. Because I love Jung, I decided to get this book to see if it would sway me to take more consideration. It didn't. If anything, it served to double down how irrelevant I feel numbered dreams are to true meaning in your life. If you dream of "36" per say, it probably has more to do with a sports player or something silly. The stories in this will have you counting that since you have three kids and were born in June, "36" means something.

Needless to say, I find the subject matter to be a stretch. However, if you don't then I feel it will have an opposite effect on you. I certainly could be wrong.

Incomplete notes on one case, so it barely makes a point- disappointed- I thought that this would have been a lecture but it’s not and definitely not worth purchasing
