Critic reviews

One of his finest books. Great character, great story, great portrait of an era (Bill Clinton, 42nd President of the United States of America)
One Good Deed represents David Baldacci’s move into historical crime with a new character, ex- jailbird Aloysius Archer . . . Unsurprisingly, the talented Baldacci proves to be as adept in this new venture as he is in his contemporary-set novels
A fast-paced investigation with dark secrets, unexpected twists, well-drawn characters and an intriguing plot
A mile-a-minute read that proves once again why David Baldacci has readers the world over flocking for more (Jane Harper, bestselling author of The Dry)
Alternately chilling, poignant, and always heart-poundingly suspenseful (Scott Turow, author of Presumed Innocent)
David Baldacci is one of the all-time best thriller authors (Lisa Gardner, author of One Step too Far)
A multi-layered protagonist; a plot as deep and twisty as the setting (Kathy Reichs, author of the Temperance Brennan series)
Mystery and suspense surround a fabulous new character in an enticing, engaging thriller that does not disappoint

… an “old timey” detective novel. A different pace and voice from novels set in modern years, this book has a delightful set of twists and turns and turns back upon the story. Quite engaging.

i felt that an additional female voice would have given more caracter to the women in the story. A male narrator doea not do justice to them.

A good listen intertwined plots.

I'm a big fan of David Baldacci, already owning a lot of his books and this one did not disappoint. It is set in 1949 America and features a returned serviceman, Aloysius Archer, who has just been released from prison after serving a sentence for a crime he did not commit. Incorporating period language and terminology with solid character development, this book tells the story of his encounters with powerful men and beautiful women in a small town where no-one is really who they seem. Framed for murder, Archer must expose the hidden secrets of the rich and powerful to save himself. This book was well narrated by Edoardo Ballerini and occupies a place in the top tier of my library. Perhaps this is the start of a new series from David Baldacci?

A good book with good narration

If you like soap operas this book will satisfy. So BORING could not get into the tale. Predictable and very ho hum.

NOT what I expect from Baldacci
