Bitter life lessons have taught Crown Prince Maksim Yurkovich that duty must come before desire. His country needs an heir, so when he discovers his lover can't have children, he must sever their ties. Only Maks can't resist spending one last night in her bed. Now he faces the biggest diplomatic crisis of his life. Against all odds, Gillian Harris has become pregnant. Maks' royal reserve masks the heart of a fierce Cossack warrior - one who is not above using their mutual passion to convince a hurt, wary Gillian that she must be his queen!

A good story. Fairly straightforward and entertaining. I enjoyed the characters and appreciated Gillian strength when faced with a very determined Maks.

Excellent narration.

Lucy Monroe is very talented, but this does not showcase her better abilities. The story is cute, fluffy, marrying a prince, blah, blah, blah. Pleasant. But I sure wish that Audible.com would record her earlier books, especially “The Real Deal”, “Ready”, “Willing”, and “And Able”, to name a few. Romance that also includes danger, excitement, strong female heroes, mystery, and, of course, the HEA. If you read as well as listen, try those, in order. You won’t be disappointed. By the way, the narrator in this one is excellent.

Not Nearly as good as earlier books

The plot was a smooth casual read. Not as dramatic as some. Yet, very real. Must say the King-to-be’s voice was the weakest part of the performance. Sounded fake.
