Against the ominous backdrop of the influenza epidemic of 1918, Elsie, the class tattletale, liar, and thief, claims the new girl at school, Annie, as her best friend. But Annie soon makes other friends as well and finds herself joining them in teasing and tormenting Elsie, who later succumbs to the epidemic and dies. Elsie is not absent from school long, though. She soon returns there as a ghost, ready to reclaim Annie's friendship and to punish all the girls who bullied her.

Good story, flat characters

The story was engaging and moved along at a good pace. I would have liked to see more growth from the characters. None of them seemed to learn any lessons or to change for the better because of their experiences. They pretty much ended where they started.

The story itself was amazing, but the narrator captured the exact theme I would have imagined the story to be pronounced in.

An on edge read!

This book makes you cheer, get angry and yell at it, and then, makes you happy.

super spooky

it started out slow.. but background details are important! I absolutely love how it played out. my daughter recommended I read it and she was right, I got chills twice reading this! so good
