The crew of the Scarlet Gaze are figuring out what they want to do now that Lord Straik sa'Rin is no longer running a corsair ship. Some of the a'ani crew want to run a cantina on Risda III.

Kazex just wants Ruthie.

Ruthie just wants to have a nervous breakdown.

Well, she wants Kazex, too. The delicious a'ani chief of security has been a steady, protective, delicious presence ever since she joined the crew. He's made it clear that he loves Ruthie as she is, nervous wreck and all. But Ruthie's afraid of what will happen to their easy friendship if she asks for more. What if kissing his tattoos and touching his sinful body changes things? It's too late for flirting-now it's time for forever. And forever terrifies her.

The only thing more terrifying? Missing her chance with Kazex entirely.

This is a friends-to-lovers between clones (one alien, one human) and starts a new spinoff series that melds the Corsair Brothers series and the Risdaverse stories.

Contains mature themes.

I really struggled with the male voice actor doing the woman's voice. The story was good.

Enjoyed the new series start

Normally I enjoy Ruby Dixon’s book, but this book was more about a clone trying to be have more individuality by having tattoos and piercings and coloring hair. She is also involved with male clone. A lot of sexual scenes, but plot was boring. I won’t continue with this series. Narrators were fine.

Well, what can I say about this book? As usual, Ruby Dixon brings to the page characters that are charming, fun and includes details that make them seem real. She has a real flare for bringing human females together with alien males and weaves lovely stories of warmth, tenderness, humor, love, and, hot sexy scenes. I recommend this book.

It was a cute story. I didn’t love the focus on piercings, but that’s just a personal preference. Not really a spoiler but the thing with MMC getting arrested repeatedly made zero sense, which was annoying. But whatever.

My main issue was with the male narrator. A previous reviewer said his voice as the FMC sounded like someone was banging Piglet from Winnie the Pooh. I have to agree. It was crazy/hilarious in a bad way. I will add that his voices of the MMC’s crewmates sounded like the 7 dwarves!

It was cute but the male narrator….
