Senior year should be easy. Unfortunately, it's going to be anything but that for Julianna Sparks.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, Julianna moves in with two of her friends, who also happen to be best friends with the guy she hates. But that's not the only issue… she's three weeks into school, and struggling to understand calculus II. Her need to make her parents proud has her willing to do anything, even if it means putting her pride aside to seek tutoring from Landon.
Landon Taylor's goal of cruising to the end of his senior year falls apart when his best friends take in the girl he hates. Now he's doing everything in his power to avoid her, and immediately turns her down when she asks him to tutor her. His plan would've worked out until an unfortunate circumstance forced him to agree.
Now they're spending more time together than either one of them would've liked. But as time goes on, they realize that maybe being in each other's company isn't so bad after all. And that there might be more.
But will they acknowledge what it is before the semester is over, or will they let their mutual hatred stand in their way?

That said, the audiobook narration didn’t work for me. The male narration, in particular, was not good. The female narrator was just okay; at times, her emotional delivery didn’t seem to match the character or the context of the situation.
The MMC’s accent was especially distracting. It was far too heavy and inconsistent, and the way he spoke often sounded like an older—much older—man rather than a college-aged character. I don’t mean the dialogue or word choice, but the actual sound and tone of the voice itself.
In the book, it’s mentioned that Landon has a very slight accent, and even then, it comes through only occasionally—on certain words, when he’s emotional or relaxed, or in intimate, private moments. It’s a subtle character detail meant to add depth and intimacy, not something that defines him. The audiobook portrayal missed that subtlety entirely and leaned into an accent that felt exaggerated and poorly executed throughout the story.
That said, the story itself is wonderful, and I’m genuinely glad I read the physical book before listening to the audio version. The written story absolutely stands on its own and is well worth reading.
