A sharp tug at the end of a hangman's noose is Lexi Garret's future, until the kingdom of Ecrimorr extends her an offer to prove her worth. But can she trust a kingdom that despises her very existence?

Abominations appeared when the goddess disappeared a thousand years ago. In the Kingdom of Ecrimorr, these humans with enhanced abilities are tightly controlled.

Those that can't be controlled are killed. And even those sent to an abomination institution have a dark fate: find a benefactor by the age of twenty-three or be killed. All abominations living in an institution therefore are looking for their golden ticket out.

All except Lexi Garrett.

Lexi knows her future is short. But she has good reason for not going along with the program: a young abomination that she needs to keep safe.

But the kingdom is looking for an abomination to add to the ranks of the Invicta, the premiere fighting force of Ecrimorr. And the leader of the Invicta has chosen Lexi. Something dark stirs in the shadows of the kingdom, drawing ever closer to the seat of power. The Invicta leader knows he needs every tool he can muster to keep the kingdom safe.

And Lexi is one of those tools. Together, they will face the danger head on and find either salvation or death at its hands.
