Mason Alexander Park reads Orlando, a dazzling, genre-defying journey through time and identity.

Meet Orlando: a young nobleman in Elizabethan England, poet, lover, adventurer—and, after a transformational sleep, a woman. Spanning over 300 years of British history, Orlando bends the rules of time, gender, and narrative as its protagonist navigates shifting societies, identities, and expectations, all while seeking something elusive: the truth of the self.

Playful, profound, and radically ahead of its time, Virginia Woolf's groundbreaking novel is part love letter, part satire, and part meditation on the fluid nature of existence. Orlando remains a bold celebration of personal freedom and a timeless exploration of who we are beneath the labels we inherit.

One of the most wonderful and unco novels, Park has a delightful tenor and good pace, but the odd choice of transatlantic/pseudo accenting takes you out at times. Still worth a full listen as they read with reverence and emotion, giving a solid performance for a beautiful book.

I had first listened through Audible's earlier recording of Orlando, narrated by the 1 & only Clare Higgins, and although I enjoyed that, her posh London accent without emotional intonations for emphasis sometimes caused the story to "fade into the background" (I mean no disrespect, Ms. Higgins did a wonderful job).
Definitely not so with Mason narrating this: the pacing was excellent, the emotional intonalities & assertions where applicable were done with great finesse, and (I follow Mason on IG to know this) their passion & love for this, 1 of their favorite novels, was very evident and helped me get into the story all-the-more throughout. Very eloquently read with just enough polish & finesse, yet not lacking in passion & enthusiasm so the listener wants to hear more!! Such a treat getting to hear Mason's voice for hours on end, I could listen to them talk & narrate for HOURS!! A voice as smooth as silky butter!! Please, Mason, DAH-LING, narrate more literature classics on Audible!! I know the stage is ur 1st love, but u r so brilliant at narrating!! Cheers ✨️

A beautiful classic read by the ever-eloquent & beautiful Mason Alexander Park ✨️
