George Orwell

Orowello: The Other Farm

Orowello was a farm in England where humans and animals lived their lives together harmoniously. How was that possible? The answer was their cooperative system of management: Animalocracy.
Animalocracy yielded satisfactory results for everyone. Its essence was summarised in the Charter of Principles, a document personally written by Mr. Brown, the farm owner.

One day, amazing news reached Orowello. On the other side of the county, the animals on Mr. Jones’s farm had rebelled. They had driven away their master and had started a self-governing system in the name of Animalism—a doctrine conceived by the pigs. According to it, all animals were equal.

This story caught the attention of Orowello’s animals. They followed the upcoming events with great interest, although no one had any intention of rebelling against Mr. Brown. However, Diamond—one of the pigs—was particularly fascinated by the feat accomplished by “his comrades” on Mr. Jones’s farm. He started to investigate the reasons that had pushed them to revolt.

Diamond gathered information from some pigeons that had begun flying around the county to spread the word about the Animal Farm revolution. And the more he learnt, the more he reflected on the serene life in Orowello.
His world turned upside down when he discovered a terrible secret…
