The rules say we can't touch each other, but rules were made to be broken.

It's been seven years since our plane crash landed. What started as 47 passengers has quickly dwindled to 32, and now that Christa is pregnant we risk losing her too.
If she had followed the rules none of this would have happened. Men and women are not to be alone together, prohibited to touch and sex is the ultimate taboo. I followed the rules, why couldn't she?

I am determined to save her, even if it means leaving camp in pursuit of civilization. Even if it means travelling with Cade, the only man I've ever been tempted by.

The climate I can endure, the terrain, survivable, but the rules? They are one forbidden touch from being broken forever.

When their plan crashed on a deserted, uncharted island, it was a miracle anyone survived. Now, nearly seven years later, Lena and Cade are going to need another miracle if they are to save one of their own. Out of the Wild is a uniquely different, enthralling and engrossing forbidden romance! Well written and fabulously narrated, this slow burn to blazing story kept me completely engaged and completely invested! I loved how the author took survivors of a tragedy and not only created a world and society for them, but made me understand the how’s and why’s for that society’s rules. I rooted hard for Cade and Lena and I rooted hard for their miracle! No spoilers, you’ll have to listen to get all the juicy details! And speaking of listening, the narration was absolutely fantastic! The voicing choices, emotions conveyed, and the absolutely delightful accent of one character in particular (no, I’m not telling), made the listening appeal of this one off the charts! The entire package gets five fabulous stars! I loved it!

Wildly Fantastic!

What I thought was going to be a survivor-like story was actually better. While the inhabitants of a plane crash had to come up with ways to survive, this story was about two survivors in particular, Lena and Cade. The two were part of a plane crash when they were young and are now adults full of wonder. As they try to save their friend, they try to keep that wonder in check. It was a good story. It even had a bad guy/gal.

The narration was well-done as well!

Wow!

Out of the Wild was my first audiobook listen by Jessica Walker. It was a forbidden love story and I really enjoyed it.

The characters were in a plane crash 7 years prior. They have been living on this remote island since they were never rescued. There are rules that no dating is allowed since food is scarce and they don't have the proper medical equipment in case of pregnancy. One of the victims died from childbirth in the past.
One of the other passengers Christa is pregnant and Lena and Cade take off against the other passengers notice to try to get help for Christa.

This book is told from Lena's point of view. She's noticed how much Cade has changed since they crashed 7 years ago. They were both kids then. While they are on their way to try to get off the island feelings start to develop. Can they get off the island to help Christa? Can they work around their feelings and end up together or risk the consequences. I really enjoyed this book. The narrator was great as well!

Lena and Cade are part of a group of plane crash survivors who have lived as castaways for over 6 years. They’ve endured a lot, and those experiences forced them to create rules for everyone, including men and women aren’t allowed to be alone together because they lost people in childbirth. But that was 6 years ago, and for those who were young at the time of the crash, they begin to not only question those rules, but many of the others, including venturing beyond the set boundaries they decided on. When their friend becomes pregnant, and needs help, they are turned down by the group’s deciding council when they ask to leave and try to again look for help, but Lena is determined and Cade won’t let her go alone. Their journey is eventful, and takes a few unexpected turns, as their attraction to each other continues to grow stronger the longer they are away from the camp together. I think I would have liked to have a bit more story beyond where it ended, but for the purpose of the plot of this book, it ends in a good place.

This is a relatively quick listen, and the narration is good.

Made me think of a crossover of Lord of the Flies and The Blue Lagoon. When the place crashes on a deserted island, the group decides to band together and form a small society with rules. Knowing they have limited resources, they make a group decision to not allow men and women to be together. No chance of making babies and threatening their own lives.

When the rules are broken 2 members decide to branch off in search of help. Learning to coexist without the group rules leads them to exploring new things.

Not quite as taboo as I like, but I found myself wishing the story was longer because I was getting sucked into it. Loved the narrator and loved the story.
