It’s been three years since the Civil War has ended. As free men, George Smith and his friends decided to head west to California. Traveling along with the trio is their old Irish army captain, Bryan O’Shannon who loves the group as brothers. Along the way to California they stop at a mining town named, El Oro in the Nevada territory. In the town, George and his friends learn the hard way that the town isn’t friendly to men of color. However, Beth Anne Murphy was different and treated the men with respect. George falls in love with Beth Anne’s kindness and she falls in love with his bravery. After a near death experience, their romance grew even stronger. Their love, however, is considered forbidden by all standards. During the time, anti-miscegenation laws were in effect. These laws stated that it was illegal for a black man to love a white woman. If they were caught, the male could be hanged and the woman could be treated far worse. Their only choice is to become outlaws of the country they once called home. For their love to survive they were forced to kill and steal. This is their story of a fight for survival to find a place they would be accepted by their love and not by the color of their skin. For Mature Readers Only: Contains strong language, sexual situations and western violence Multicultural Westerns
