Even with a victory, defeat can be hidden in the shadows. While you might get to stop a tyrant, you might just lose a friend.

Jordon and his Outcasts succeeded in driving Ral Tor back before he could unleash the power of destruction on Taldora or the multiverse, but in doing so, his son took up his mantle, eager to seize power in the vacuum that had been left.

Mistakes were inevitable, Jordon knew that and losing Padma in the process of stopping the world from collapsing had been the worst part. But as the magic he was beginning to rely on starts to act in mysterious ways, Jordon knew that his job was far, far from over.

This is a very strong follow-up to the first book in the series, Cascade.

We continue following Jordon and his Outcasts, while they meet other races and make plans to confront the big bads. There is a lot more action, fleshing out of characters' backstories and introduction of more interesting characters. I enjoyed listening!

The narration was solid; I didn't have any issues following who was speaking or discerning male or female characters.

If you enjoyed the first book, you'll definitely love this one :)

Sure maybe I’m biased because I wrote the book, but I really think I delivered a hell of a sequel!

What really makes it shine though is Mitchell’s amazing narration, bringing real life to the characters and making me feel truly immersed in every beat of this story.

I really knocked it out of the park!
