In a similar vein, a young man with doubts about his own sexuality and reason for living decides to enter the priesthood, ending up in a secluded monastery where all sorts of unorthodox activity plays out. His predicament makes for interesting, compelling reading, too.

All of the action takes place in a fictional Latin American country, but the references to real places and events woven into the narrative make it all the more believable as scene after scene plays out.
