Set in 12th-century Jerusalem, Pilgrim follows the treacherous journey of a German knight and his companions as they return home after seven arduous years battling for God in the Holy Land. Within this sprawling tale lies a tapestry of medieval horror, intertwining history and folklore, encompassing both a metaphysical and literal odyssey.

Inspired by a rich blend of Arabic, Christian, and pre-Islamic traditions, Pilgrim delivers a pulse-pounding story of action, adventure, and bone-chilling horror.

Amazing read. It took me awhile to recover from the cosmic despair. As soon as I recovered I want through it a second time. Just as good the second read if not better.

…dang…

fantastic world building. a journey that took me places I didn't know I wanted to go. I'll need to come off my emotional high and give a more academic review at some point. this book get stars across the board!

I haven't read any books quite like this and was new to the author. I love the theme (medieval horror) and it was well-written, frightening, with great characters and world-building.

Great, weird, disturbing story

This came into my recommended a few times, I passed it up probably because the price. I usually don’t spend more than 13 bucks on an audio book. The cover art perplexed me, blood red with a wild eyed Wolf-monkey…so a possible “creature feature” than set in medieval times. I can understand that at least and there are many more like it so I justified holding off on it. Something about it just stuck with me, the summary promising an adventure horror set in Crusade-era Jerusalem was such a unique hook that I took the chance with my next monthly credit.

God’s teeth…(inside joke from the book) this is a Homer’s Odyssey level tale of multiple worlds, deep character development and absolutely riveting World Religion esoteric lore. That comes out to hunt. It’s like if “The Witcher” was set in real historical locations and with closely held and cherished belief systems that we still have with us today.

I just finished the audio after 20 odd hours of getting to know these poor bastards and now that’s it’s over…I feel a tad lonely.

Brilliant Fiction that merges with the deepest parts of Reality.

I think it probably reads better in print: it was hard to follow sometimes if I wasn’t paying close attention, but that’s a me problem.

Deeply disturbing. Highly recommend
