We all encounter times when our spirit feels dry, when doubt looms.

The opportunity to tour Israel came at a good time. For months, my life has been a mindless plodding through necessary routine, as monotonous as an all-night shift on an assembly line. Life gets that way sometimes, when nothing specific is wrong but the world around us seems drained of color.

Even my weekly worship experiences and daily quiet times with God have felt as dry and stale as last year's crackers. I'm ashamed to confess the malaise I've felt. I have been given so much. Shouldn't a Christian's life be an abundant one, as exciting as Christmas morning, as joyful as Easter Sunday?

With gripping honesty, Lynn Austin pens her struggles with spiritual dryness in a season of loss and unwanted change. Tracing her travels throughout Israel, Austin seamlessly weaves events and insights from the Word...and in doing so finds a renewed passion for prayer and encouragement for her spirit, now full of life and hope.

Listening made me grateful for the Savior Jesus Christ and for the restoration of the fulness of the gospel, complete with modern prophets, apostles, temples, and ordinances. Thanks Lynn!

I loved, loved this book. I visited Israel a couple years ago. It was a dream come thru.!!. Hearing about the places that I also visited was like being there again. Most of all I was blessed by all the lessons from the scripture that the writer used in each experience.
I loved it!!

The lessons in every town or city

I read this book for the second time right before going to Israel. I I think Lynn captured so many of my own feelings and probably feelings that are common to many of us. My husband read it twice before we went as well. We both felt like it was very meaningful and deep and we appreciate her writing very much. We highly recommend it as a preparation for your own pilgrimage.

Excellent writing!

This book could be described as a travel record as well as a devotional of thoughts, applications, and lessons learned. As an individual who has never visited Israel, and probably never will in this life, I enjoyed the author’s vivid descriptions and her explanations of the historical importance of each site.
After exploring, the author included some applications to her own life and maturity in her walk with Christ.
A believer in Christ should enjoy this account; a nonbeliever will probably never choose the book in the first place.
