What goes on behind the scenes at a well-funded city shelter? Cindy Marabito tells the story from the trenches. Big money organizations shade the truth while millions of dogs are being destroyed because they look like a pit bull. Take this journey and peek inside the clanging metal doors where animals who have no voice are given a face and a story. Cindy Marabito makes it personal.

Pit Bull Nation is the story of a woman who found a pit bull and how that one dog changed the course of her life. The chain of events which follow would discourage most people, but Cindy finds a connection with these dogs that gives her the strength to overcome adversity and confront her own fears. She finds a comrade and soulmate in these unwanted dogs whose very name and image inspire media frenzy.

This book is a journey over the hills and valleys of rescue work and a tell-all look from behind the scenes in the killing fields where most of these dogs are being slaughtered simply because they look like pit bulls. Cindy Marabito believes there is a solution for America's first native dog breed, the American Pit Bull Terrier. This book is Cindy's story about these extraordinary dogs and the people who believe in them.

I started listening to this book as a dog lover who loves to learn about all dogs. I had no idea how addictive ly I'd listen and look forward to every chapter. I love Cindy's, straight forward, no pretence, "tell it like it is" way of telling her story and her journey with the variety of dogs we dub as pitt bulls.
I recommend this book to anyone who wants to listen and learn from a person who has had their real life experience grounded in real life! I'm a northeastern who loved Cindys down to earth, earnest, and authentic Texas style. A book that will open your eyes and help you see more clearly the world of shelters and the dogs that have long received a bad "rap" from our society.

An eye opening, honest and excellent book
