A dialogue between Socrates and Meno probes the subject of ethics. Can goodness be taught? If it can, then we should be able to find teachers capable of instructing others about what is good and bad, right and wrong, or just and unjust.

Socrates and Meno are unable to identify teachers of ethics, and we are left wondering how such knowledge could be acquired. To answer that puzzle, Socrates questions one of Meno's servants in an attempt to show that we know fundamental ideas by recollecting them.

This audio book is not the complete unabridged meno. There is a significant chunk of the dialectic missing. Everything, after socrates mentions anitus, is missing. The runtime should be closer to 1hour and 20 minutes. That being said, I absolutely love the characterization and the performances given by the voice actors. Its only a shame this wasn’t the complete audiobook.

Incomplete 2/3rds of the story

Ray Child’s is by far my favorite narrator of the Platonic dialogues. His Socrates is very convincing and makes you feel like your in ancient Athens.

This is a good plain english version in actor form. Each part has a voice and it explains the dialogue very well.

The dialogue between Plato & Meno and the inflection in their voices was engaging! I’ve listened to it several times and love the reasoning and insight of questioning as a means of getting to the root of the question:
What is goodness?

Great recording!

very intriguing dialogue, child's is hands down the best socrates, my only hope is that he narrates more like this, very believable, and compelling voice as he gives soctrates life. do yourself a favor and grab this
