This was my first experience with this author's work, and it was charming, and also sad. I admired how the author used a famous literary couple to portray the tragedy of alzheimer's. Even though the story was short, it engendered a myriad of feelings within my heart as it showed just how devastating it can be once loved ones start showing memory loss. I thought Lucas Keen's narration was great, and his performance enhanced the story's entertainment. I was given a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.

A Bittersweet Short Story

Please Remember is a touching Pride and Prejudice variation novella that explores Elizabeth’s battle with memory loss after thirty years of marriage to Darcy. Debra-Ann Kummoung delivers a heartfelt portrayal of how love and family unite in times of difficulty, with Darcy and their four children rallying around Elizabeth in her struggles. This story touches home, as my mother suffered from the same disease, so I couldn’t help but shed a tear at the end of the epilogue. Ms. Kummoung donates all the profits from the ebook version of this book—which I also purchased—to Alzheimer’s research. Be sure to also read her previous book, Remember, I Love You Always, which tells of Darcy’s similar struggle. While the books are a little sad, they are beautifully and respectfully told, and help in a great cause.

The narration by Lucas Keen offers a pleasant voice that suits the tone of the story. However, the pacing of this particular performance felt slightly off, with a stop-and-go rhythm that disrupted the flow. At times, the pausing felt misplaced, which was distracting. That said, with smoother pacing, his voice would have potential for a better listening experience.

Heartfelt and touching.

This is a very quick read / listen showing a life where Elizabeth is losing her memories at times. It’s hard to see our favorite characters age and go through struggles that unfortunately many in today’s society do too. Some of us have loved ones that deal with memory loss and it’s personally devastating. The idea of memory books is a wonderful tool that all of us should make for our children and grandchildren to remember us as we get older. I would have enjoyed the story to be a bit longer but it is still good to bring awareness about this life changing experience.

Narrator - this is not my favorite narrator as he comes across as stilted & choppy in the narration. With a different narrator would bring this story up several notches.
