Recently recruited and trained as a special agent by MI6, the British secret service, 14-year-old West Londoner Alex Rider is sent to infiltrate an ultra-private school where the rich and powerful send their uncontrollable, rebellious sons. What he discovers in the mountaintop fortress of the campus are enough armed guards to repel an invasion-and new classmates who have become eerie copies of each other in their compliant attitudes and actions. This fast-paced yarn delivers technological wizardry and James Bond-like action.

I wasn’t sure I’d enjoy this book but it’s now on my favorites list. Can’t wait to listen to the other books!

I loved this book very much. I love how the story doesn’t seemed to be rushed but also doesn’t seem to drag on. This book was amazing and I will absolutely read again.

Alex Rider never disappoints.

On a relisten it feels pretty short but a solid book with good action and a little bit of humor. I think the narration could have been better with a younger voice but overall pretty good.

Solid YA book with lots of action

What on gods green earth made Anthony Horowitz write that entire crane section? Our young and stupidly perfect protagonist starts off the book with breaking into a crane and picking up a barge then almost killing an entire police station just to look cool when he catches the bad guys. Why?

Why the crane?
