Far away from the modern world, on a small tropical island called Pitcairn, lives a 12-year-old girl named Polly Christian.

It’s November 1935 and Polly spends her days in paradise, cracking coconuts and swimming in the warm surrounding waters of the South Pacific. Every day is filled with blue skies, the familiar rhythm of island drums and dance, and nightly feasts of freshly caught fish and harvested vegetables shared with the other villagers.

If only she could be at peace, but this great descendant of the famed mutineer, Fletcher Christian, longs for adventure and change. Her wily spirit finds just that when a steamship arrives ready to trade. And what she trades for leads her on a high seas adventure of mystery and deception.

For listeners who enjoy stories like Charlotte Doyle and swashbuckling historical adventure.

A fun story for kids or middle-grade readers. I love the connection to Fletcher Christian and Pitcairn Island. I can imagine one of his descendants would be just like this. Beautiful scenery and a clever twist at the end.

I was looking for something set in the S. Pacific with cultural elements for my kids and Polly of Pitcairn Island did just that. It's about a girl who is related to Fletcher Christian who was a real person who led a mutiny and also the main character in Mutiny on the Bounty. If you want your kid to understand some of the history of that event this is a good book to introduce them to that. There's also a mystery on the steamship that takes her to America so it merges history and adventure. I couldn't stop listening. Creative and fun.
