Achieve healthy vagus nerve tone and reduce stress, improve well-being, and heal your mind and body with Polyvagal Theory and Yoga

The vagus nerve connects your throat to your facial muscles and extends from your brain stem to your intestines and stomach. Peak emotional and physical well-being is directly correlated to a healthy vagus nerve, leading to alleviation of the negative effects of PTSD, anxiety, and depression.

In this book, Isaac Anderson and Gabriel Dubois discuss evidence-based yoga practices and principles, as well as Dr. Stephen Porges’ research and development of polyvagal theory, so that you can stimulate and influence vagal tone and regain body and mind balance.

Here’s what you’ll learn:

  • How to get out of "fight-or-flight" mode using science-backed techniques
  • How to use polyvagal theory to heal yourself and improve your life
  • The evidence-based vagus nerve stimulation methods that will improve health and well-being
  • The relationship between the vagus nerve and weight loss
  • The vagus nerve’s role in depressive symptoms
  • How meditation and yoga can improve vagus nerve health
  • And so much more!

Yoga and polyvagal theory are key to achieving a healthy vagal tone and restoring the optimal balance of both your parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous systems, so you can be more resilient in the face of radical change and life stresses.

So the content is interesting but the reader pronounces medical terms wrong which is bad but even worse…. If you are going to have someone say things Sanskrit at least have them say it right. You did not need to have them say the poses in Sanskrit at all… could’ve just used the English terms for the “AA.sa.nas/poses” instead of butchering a 5000yr old language and no one would’ve cared and everyone would understand what the hell you are saying. The whole first 3 chapters is the reason I won’t recommend this to anyone even though it is interesting and helpful. I took A&P 1&2 and had the nervous system much more easily and logically explained to me. I honestly see no reason for the technicality of this book. It’s as if it’s trying to impress itself with how it knows big words.

Pronouncing things right matters

An excellent guide for me. I'm satisfied with this fiction audio-book. The narrator did an excellent job. I want to recommend that to everyone.

I really liked the info in this book

The polyvagal theory describes an autonomic nervous system that is influenced by the central nervous system, sensitive to afferent influences, characterized by an adaptive reactivity dependent on the phylogeny.

A lot of valuable information is given here.

The info is great what is understood. Grammar jumps around and becomes incoherent!

The examples of polyvagal reset and breathwork are just about impossible to follow and I listened over 20 times on one passage in particular for the Vagus reset.

this is very disappointing because the info supplied could do a fabulous service and I REALLY WOULD LIKE TO TRY THESE PRACTICES.

Could we please have this book reread or get a supplimentary website with diagrams and videos of the practices?
I really don't like leaving bad reviews however such a great potential service to human kind is thwarted by shoddy reading and or grammatical errors. Not sure that is the readers fault, the voice tone IS very nice and clear but some of the words spoken such as "Sit down and put your naval on one side and your solar plexus on the other..." what in the hell does that mean???

please please PRETTY PLEASE FIX IT!

Thank you
