I hate Harry Stone.

Before I’d even met the selfish former pro hockey player turned CEO, he was at the top of my shit list.

The entire city of Chicago thinks he’s God’s gift to humanity, but I know the truth.

He knocked up my best friend and then ditched her when she needed him most.

She got sick after that, and before she passed away, she chose me to raise her newborn daughter.

I just need Harry to sign away his rights to the little girl who means everything to me.

Unfortunately, it’s not quite that simple.

To stay in his daughter’s life, I end up moving in with the man I detest. Loathe. Despise.

Hating Harry Stone is the easiest thing I’ve ever done.

But slowly discovering a way to not hate him?

Now that, I didn’t see coming.

This story started out good and then once Winter moved in with Harry I felt everything happened with in a matter of a week. No real slow burn betwwen the 2 of them. Overall decent story line.

I bought the audiobook and enjoyed listening to Gregory Salinas' really smooth voice. He's actually not really what I would have pictured for Harry but he did a great job overall. Kai Kennicott, also, did well so overall, this was a good listen.

Now for the story. This is a surprise baby (but Winter, the heroine, is not the mother), enemies to lovers, sports romance. The biggest issue is Winter. She was irrationally angry at Harry and irrationally supportive of her best friend, the mother of the baby, who didn't tell Harry she was pregnant and never informed him that she was sick either (she passed away early in the book). The romance was stilted because of this anger and I really didn't believe in their HEA because the anger and the guilt that the heroine wallowed in. Overall, the narration saved the book.

Really enjoyed this book. Definitely will read others by this author. Loved the female character. She was so sassy.

I loved how much Winter loved her friend Mallory. so much so that she was willing to raise her newborn child after she passed away, even though she didn't have the money to keep them in a home let alone diapers or formula.
Then what she thought would be an easy sign his parental rights away appointment with Henry Stone turns into a paternity test and h wanting the baby Avery, makes her hate him even more because she believed he wanted nothing to do with the baby.
once Henry figured out he knew nothing about how to take care of a baby he asks Winter for help.
eventually they fall in love, but Winter has a lot of guilt about it. because she was getting every that Mallory ever wanted

This one had me close to crying more then once, and laughing at events that reminded me of when my kids where babies.
Standalone with no Cliffhangers.
Lots of emotion with touches of cancer, war vets, and single parenting.
Slow build from hate to love.
Well done!
