Immense solar storms send deadly masses of electrically charged particles that strike and devastate the Earth. The grid is down, the supply chain is nonexistent, and millions are dying. Monty is lucky to survive in a safe room with family and a few strangers. Monty suffered the loss of several close friends during the war in the Middle East, and then his wife and child were murdered, which caused his PTSD to get worse. Before escaping from the safe room, Monty learns that an assassin killed his stepfather and that the solar flare might have been caused by crooked US government officials.

Jane is an assassin who killed several of the men and women who hatched the plot to start a new world order by using a manmade solar storm to reduce the world’s population and form a new government. She must survive while figuring out who the good and bad guys are during the worst times.

His head spins as Monty deals with survival during the apocalypse while trying to make sense of a world destroyed and turned upside down.

Not a fan of the narrator

Story is pretty good but the narrator isn’t the best. A bit too much character development for folks who die early on.

Starts are pretty good

Short. Narrator isn’t so great. Story seems like it’s going to be interesting and I’ll keep with the series.

great start to an apocalyptic survival story

great start to an apocalyptic survival story. I like the main character and associate with his troubles as a vet re-entering civilian life. NASA launching nuke at yhe sun was far fetched but only minor in the story overall.
