In this book I will show you that "Probability is an Illusion." How could I go about proving this to you? Assume things happen at random and show that they are so unlikely to occur that they could never happen at random. In this book I will show a sequence of events in my life that are extremely unlikely...so unlikely that they could not happen at random...which would prove that probability is an illusion.
Methods
I use a technique involving statistics and probability to show that these events could never happen at random. I will explain some common rules of probability and formulas that justify my conclusion.
My Background
I am a Statistician who enjoys Probability! It is very unusual that the rare events explained in this book happened to me because of my knowledge of Statistics and love of Probability. I am also an Electronic Musician. The unlikely events in this book involve Statistics and Music, two important aspects of my life.
Examples
For example, when I was driving on the highway and making an important journey, I was fortunate enough to see the lucky number 777 on two separate license plates! This event alone has a 1 in a million chance of occuring at random! I also have music synesthesia, a unique condition where I "see music in colors and shapes". I will calculate the probability of these events occurring simultaneously, and show that this contributes to a series of many other extremely improbable events and circumstances in my life that could never happen at random.
Conclusion
I have an amazing story to tell you! This book provides insight into statistics, probability, randomness and unlikely events, and shows that Probability is an Illusion!
