this book is totally eye-opening and brings to light histories that we are never taught in school. it's so affirming to hear of so many cultures having different ways of viewing queerness. it makes me feel more settled in my identity and appreciate magic and spirituality in a different way! a big thank you to the author! blessings. :-)

wonderful!

Didn’t know what I to expect and didn’t realize how uneducated I was on queer history/civilizations pre-Christian influence. Not so much a book on magic, but can definitely see how it could influence someone’s practice.

Good historical info

As a queer Black man, I've often felt ostracized by society - especially by Christianity. This beautiful book has given me insight to what it means to be spiritual from a queer aspect and a wide range of deities and knowledge I can draw on to heal my own insecurities.

Educational and Empowering

A lot of language around “biological” identities, all with the best intentions, but I found it cumulatively frustrating with so much repetition and as such a modern/conservative word to layer on non colonial international perspectives on gender. Also, guest writers from non western cultures are given accents by the reader which was unnecessary. Generally this book is a good introductory survey from a gay cis male lens of global magic and LGBTQ+ traditions.

Trigger warning for trans folks...
