Having been married for 10 years this books was full of questions my husband and I talked about before getting engaged. That being said a review of expectations is always a great idea even 10 years in! Great quick read listen!

I just finished listening to this audiobook, and it surprised me in a good way. It starts with the premise of asking a series of questions for couples that are thinking about getting married so they can talk about topics that often are left untouched.
Really quickly, the book is basically a questionnaire leading to conversations about personal values, finances, expectations about the future, intimacy, roles, challenges, and visions of shared life. It is sort of a "now what?" for two people who are trying to form a future together long-term.
About my opinion... I really liked that the book sounds like having a deep conversation with your significant other. It kind of forces you to go further than you would otherwise go. It feels like it would be good for a couple that is planning to take the next step whatever that step is... living together, getting married, having kids. This book provides a space to talk about things that might otherwise be left unsaid. It is a great reality check.

Some questions need to be asked and answered before deciding to spend the rest of your life with another person. Marriage requires more than love; it demands that you know one another deeply by asking questions that dive into each other's true thoughts, nature, goals, marital expectations, and personality. This guide helps you have those in-depth conversations, uncovering crucial topics that couples often neglect before marriage. Discuss your respective families' histories and dynamics, and how you would handle relationships with in-laws. You also need to decide if and when you want to have children, how many, and your parenting styles. Find out how each of you handles disagreements. Being honest and having conversations with each other is the foundation of your relationship. Understanding each other's habits and communication styles can help you navigate differences. For a relationship to thrive, you must be honest and committed to exploring these topics together, as it lays the groundwork for a lasting marriage. A major issue is money. Financial disagreements cause marital stress and can lead to divorce. Discussing your attitudes toward money, debts, saving, spending, and financial goals is crucial for a strong partnership. Financial transparency and creating a budget together can prevent future arguments. This guide will help you and your partner find out how compatible you are.
