James P. Bass, a master machinist ruined by the collapse of his gun company, is recruited by Paul Gibson to a secret desert “ranch” to rebuild illegal A-50 sniper rifles. Gibson, leader of the extremist Sons of Liberation, plans to launch a violent revolution against government corruption.
As James trains workers and grows attached to a young prostitute named Alta, Border Patrol agents notice a pattern of precision killings along the border. Gibson’s group soon escalates—assassinating a senator and a judge using James’s weapons.
After Alta is brutalized by her pimp, Gibson kills the man and orders the ranch destroyed. James saves Alta and sends her home to her daughter with money to start over. He returns to his family, remorseful, while the Sons continue their campaign—the revolution has begun.
