Their name is Raintree. It's more than a last name, more than a notation on a family tree. It's a mark of destiny. Each family member has a special gift, an otherworldly talent.

Gideon Raintree, a homicide detective, can harness electricity and talk to ghosts. He will need to wield gifts he's kept hidden to solve his newest case, which involves a relentless serial killer unleashed by the dark Ansara wizards. But first he must deal with his reaction to Hope Malory, his alluring new partner. He'd never planned on love in the midst of battle. With evil lurking at every turn, Gideon and Hope are in a race against time to save their love, their family, and their newly conceived child.

This was truly an interesting twist. Gideon and his electrical mishaps in a world where everything is electronic and wireless makes for almost a funny no,no. However the story and Hope, the heroine have more than possibilities. Quiet a worthy read and author. Looking forward to reading another of her books.

What did you like best about Raintree? What did you like least?

I liked the fact that it was different and innovative. I have never read a book like this with this kind of a story line before. Usually anything with a supernatural or science fiction theme is somewhat predictable. This one wasn't. I didn't like the fact that it ended so abruptly. I'm assuming that there is or will be a sequel and the author wants to leave the reader in suspense so that the he/she will continue on with the series. However, this was too much of a cliff hanger. I didn't feel that a lot of the loose ends were tied up enough to make the book understandable. I felt somewhat robbed of an ending.

Would you recommend Raintree to your friends? Why or why not?

I would recommend Raintree to my friends but not whole heartedly. I would tell them that it's a good read but will not keep them on the edge of their chairs with either interest or suspense.

Which scene was your favorite?

I liked the scenes where Emma apopeared and called Raintree "Daddy." I thought that was an interesting part of the story.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

No, probably not. I would watch it if it came on tv, though.

By far the best of the Raintree trio. The characters are likeable and the story is clever. Hope and Gideon (by LW Jones) would make a great series since they have a mission other than having hot sex i.e. solving murders mysteries.

It would be great to visit H&G on a day when his gift causes everything to go wrong -- a group of "out takes" so to speak. -- Not to mention stories about their kiddo and the terrible twos.
