Life is cruel. Arbor learns this lesson the hard way, when everything he loves is taken from him in a single night. Left alive by the men who butchered his family, Arbor has two options: give up and perish, or rise up and fight to take back the life he's lost. To do that though, he'll have to leave behind the only home he's ever known and venture out into the world beyond.

What he doesn't yet realize, is that the world is a much more dangerous place than he could ever have imagined. A world filled with magic, monsters and mythic beasts powerful enough to destroy entire nations!

When the narrators talk over each other it’s sometimes nice but sometimes very annoying when it occurs multiple times in a row but overall it was a great book!!!

The overlay of the narrators

loved the story but the performance was messed up quite a bit from bad editing. or maybe someone just thought it was a good idea... anytime there was a deep voice talking it would be interrupted halfway through the dialogue by the narrator. that is one of the dumbest things I've listened to and it's a shame this happened in one of Aaron's books. the voice actor's themselves however were fantastic.

excellent story, poor editing

Interesting story and narration!

After seeing his family get murdered on his wedding day, the MC goes on a quest to save his sister and get revenge for his family and fiance. Finding out that he has access to mysterious magic he joins a resistance fighting against the tyranny that hired the bandit gang that killed the ones he loves.

Soundbooth does a great job with a narration of this story!

I can't wait to find out what happens next!

This book is what I would imagine would happen if Braveheart had a baby with Harry Potter. There are strong motives of revenge mixed with a cool, original magic system. The world creation is really well down and I am excited to see what happens in subsequent book. The characters are really well written and the narration really brings them to life. It never ceases to amaze me the quality of Soundbooth Theater’s productions. Everything from full cast to sound effects takes the books that they work on to another level.

Fantastic production

This book is both very fun and at the same time a tear jerker it's very well written and very unique in its story as a whole. I enjoy the sister side of the story a lot more while I like the brother's side as well it just kinda the of typical trope that he gets magic and then is super powerful right away without any real practice though to be fair he does a bit its just nothing like the sisters. The one thing that throws me off is the size of the gremlins one minute they seem to be short the next they're tall like humans and besides that, I find the interplay and just the overall character of the female gremlin that is with the brother, in general, annoying especially towards the end. however minus that little part the book is really good and definitely worth picking up. I will be looking forward to checking out book two once it comes out

This was a very good read.
