Twenty-two-year-old Militine Scott is in training at the Madison Bridal School in Seattle, yet she has no intention of pursuing marriage. What respectable man would have her? But she has found the school provides the perfect opportunity to keep her unsavory past hidden.

Thane Patton, though fun loving and fiercely loyal to his friends, hides a dark secret as well. He finds himself drawn to Militine, sensing that she harbors a haunting pain similar to his own. Will they allow God to make something new and beautiful from the debris of their past?

I don’t mind having two love storylines in one book, but both need to be well-developed. You can’t just make one magically happen—two deeply broken people with traumatic, violent pasts shouldn’t fall in love effortlessly within weeks or months. It’s sweet, but completely unrealistic. I absolutely believe in God’s power to heal, but based on personal experience, the level of trauma these characters supposedly endured would take years of therapy or deep spiritual healing.

That really detracted from the book for me. On the other hand, the second love storyline was more engaging and believable.

Bottom line: If you’re going to have multiple main characters, make sure they’re well-developed enough to feel real and relatable.

Sweet and Christian clean romance

I really liked the book. I did not have a chance to hear book 1. I would like to have had a few more ends tied up before it ended.

Lots of loose ends.

Yet another wonderful noval by Tracie Peterson. I have not found a noval of hers to be disappointing.

I enjoy Trace Peterson's books because they tell a good story without being overly "preachy" and they don't need sex scenes to hold your interest. While Abriana was an interesting character in the first book, I grew weary of her ignoring good, sound advice and putting absolutely everything in God's hands. There were times when a little common sense was called for, especially when your life could be in danger.

Alyssa Bresnahan did another great job as narrator. You can easily distinguish the characters from one another and she definitely weaves their personalities into their voices.
