Daniel Reed watched with envy as other soldiers around him were falling in love, getting married over the years to their pen-pals - but not him, never him. That would require the introverted soldier to hold a conversation, and he just didn’t have it within him… or did he?

Bridget was certain her Prince Charming would never show up on her doorstep. Why should he? She was an overweight school nurse that loved her cats, a hearty meal, and writing her pen pal… until something changed inexplicably between them. If Daniel was afraid to make the first step, then maybe she would?

But when he’s injured...

What do you do when everything you hold dear is being questioned at every turn?

This is one of my favorite stories by Ginny. I love how she connects her characters across her books. It leads to a friend's and family connection and adventures.

Friends and family.

This was one of my favorite books in the series. The slow burning love between shy Daniel and self-deprecating Bridget was so noteworthy. I absolutely loved the initial meeting that included his parents. Especially when his mother didn’t hold back anything and Daniel was dying a slow death of shyness. After the incident in Afghanistan, when he was flown to the German hospital, his recuperation was handled with such insistence and care by Bridget. She was able to bring Daniel back to her completely, despite their initial meeting. Ginny was able to describe what happens to so many of our soldiers if they can no longer serve. She described it in a manner that many soldiers face. They deserved all the happiness due anyone. What a wonderfully sweet couple, I just loved them!
