Exiled from Unity core space and bent to get back to Earth, Zade starts his journey in the derelict ship provided by the chancellor. After a lucky bout of clumsiness, he learns that the ship he was given is much more than meets the eye. The ancient ship, crafted with poorly understood technology, gives Zade hope that he can help mankind meet the challenges of their inclusion in the interstellar community. All he has to do is make it home with minimal delays....

This book is the second for this story, it picks up right after the first one and starts off great. However, there is one thing that the author left out that made the first book great, the nanotechnology. In the previous book the main character could adjust what he wanted in his body, heal wounds, cut off pain receptors and heal himself. And this was left out in this book. I mentioned this because the main character took a lot of damage in this book that should have been mitigated by the nanos in his system but the author left out completely. If that was included along with the new technology he acquired it would have made him pretty unstoppable. This would have been consistent with the fact that the nanotechnology he was given was to help him live 1000 years. I’m disappointed that It was left out.

But overall the book is well written and the story is good and consistent with the main objective.

Great book

Dean has done a great job of developing the characters in the two books so far. His use of his background adds a great deal to the believability of the story line. The pace of the story has a great mix of action and background information that keeps you wanting more. Can’t wait for the next book!

Great book, can’t wait for the next!

The book did a good job of continuing the story line. I'm looking forward to book three.

I enjoyed this book, but it was not an automatic thumbs up. Read #1, #2 good enough so that I will complete with #3.

I'm a Redleg- so naturally....
