Laura Holt goes home to Cactus Creek to care for her ailing father whose health is failing after years of drinking. She’s longed for her desert home for 14 years. To her surprise, her childhood infatuation with Logan King has not faded as much as she thought. But Logan is struggling with problems of his own after losing his first wife in a fire, and her father wants her to marry the saloon owner, although Laura doesn’t. As the situation worsen, Laura finds herself going to her favorite fishing spot by the creek to find peace, but it’s still Logan’s favorite place, too.

Absolutely loved this continuation of the series. Threw in a few surprises but that just made it better!

Another fabulous addition

I received this audiobook free for an honest review. I loved this story and the bonus story at the end. I love how the author applies the lessons of the Bible to real life. Although this book takes place in 1858, the lessons can be applied to every day life. The author is very subtle in the application of the Bible to our life and to the romance of the characters. The story of childhood friends growing into adult soul mates is an extremely enjoyable listen. The author makes you feel you are right there in Arizona during the time of Cowboys and Indians. The second story of Alex and Melony is truly a bonus. The duet narrators was a treat. They were great. They brought the characters to life and made the overall story a delight to the listener.

Great Christian love story of going back home

Laura returns to her home town after years away with her mother. She’s no longer the little girl who followed Logan around in hero worship. Logan is discouraged with life. Not only did his parents die in a tragic accident, then his wife’s life came to an end in a house fire. His decision to never marry again falters when he encounters Laura. But he’s not the only one who feels drawn to her. And how does Laura feel about the two men? Especially when her father despises one and pushes her toward the other.

This is a lovely romance with a touch of mystery. There are unexpected twists and turns, which make the book difficult to put down. The characters are well developed and draw you into the story. It’s nice to revisit with characters from previous books in this series.

Romance with a touch of mystery

I have enjoyed this series and seeing the characters develop from book to book. This was a sweet story but also has some suspense to it.

The narrators did a good job, however, I feel like Logan's voice always seemed whiney.

I received a free copy of the audiobook and I am voluntarily leaving this review.

Enjoyed this

This book is a nice mix of romance, adventure, and inspiration. Logan and Laura both have difficulty leaving the past in the past. They can find all sorts of reasons that they do not want to get involved with one another. But God has other plans. An adventure that wasn't planned opens their hearts. In the midst of all of this, there are other relationships and romance stories happening. It's a fun book!

The narration is good and enhances the listening experience.
