This sequel to Puck of Pook's Hill is full of historical adventures and fun. "Cold Iron", "Gloriana", "The Wrong Thing", "Marklake Witches", "The Knife and the Naked Chalk", "Brother Square-Toes", "A Priest in Spite of Himself", "The Conversion of Sir Wilfred", "A Doctor's Medicine", "Simple Simon", and "The Tree of Justice" are the titles of these tales.

Interspersed among them are various poems, including one of Kipling's most famous, "If".

Overall beautiful narration, but not quite the rumpus ride of the first book. Meeting characters old and new provides a nice tale for children as well as containing the famous poem "If" as well.
